Patch SysBeep2 System 6.0.1 v1.0
Copyright 1994 by Eric Shepherd

Freeware
Patch SysBeep2 is Freeware. You may use as many copies of it as you
wish, as many times as you wish, as long as you dont change it in any
way. And you may distribute it as long as you dont charge more than
$5.00 for a disk and/or copy fee and change neither the program nor
this documentation, and as long as you include this documentation with
the program.

Freeware software is copyrighted, which means if you fail to abide by

You have been warned; I do watch for violations of this license.

Why Would I Want to Install This Patch? Twilight II includes a
configurable option called Beeping Unblanks. This option, when
enabled, causes all system beeps to unblank the screen if it was
blanked. Some people like having this turned on, others do not. And
it worked great under System 6.0.

But then Apple released System 6.0.1, and, for some reason, the Apple
II system software team changed the SysBeep2 call to force the screen
to unblank. This renders Twilight IIs option useless.

This patch disables that feature of System 6.0.1.

Installing the Patch To install the SysBeep2 patch, just launch the
Patch.SysBeep2 program by double-clicking it in the Finder, or by
running it from Applesoft BASIC. Youll be given some information
about the program, then asked to enter the name of the disk youd like
to install the patch onto. Type the disks name and the patch will be
installed. If, for any reason, the patch cant be installed, youll be
asked to try again. Just hit RETURN when asked for the disks name to
quit the patch program.

The next time you boot that disk, the patched version of SysBeep2 will
be used.
