SynthInit by Mike Nuzzi (Triad Venture Inc.) SynthInit is a finder extension that allows you to play MidiSynth songs from the finder. Place the SynthInit file in your System.Setup or FinderExtras folder, and reboot to make active. You should see a "Seq" Icon on the bottom of the screen to indicate that SynthInit is active. Tool 35 (MidiSynth) must be installed in your Tools folder. To play a MidiSynth song, double click on the Icon of a MidiSynth Sequence File. As all other programs that play Midisynth songs, the Seq, Bnk, and Wav files must all reside in the same folder. You can, however, drag the Seq Icon to the desktop and play it from there. Holding down the Open-Apple key and Double clicking a seq Icon will direct the sounds to both the GS speakers and a Midi Keyboard. You must have the Midi Cdev and selected Midi Driver in their respective folders. SynthInit allows selection of multiple files to play. You can add additional files to the queue by either double clicking on them at any time before the final song is played, or by selecting a group of files at one time. SPECIAL KEYS To play the next queued song hold down the Open-Apple Key and press the Right Arrow Key. To play the previous song, hold the Open-Apple Key down and press the left arrow key. To Stop songs, Hold down the Open-Apple Key and press the space bar. All queued songs will stop. When you launch a file or otherwise leave the Finder all songs will stop. MidiSynth and Finder MidiSynth runs in the Background and uses what are called Interrupts. Since Finder can and does disable interrupts during critical operations like disk copying, and the like, it is possible that notes can stick or hang. If this happens, press Open-Apple Space to stop MidiSynth. It is not recommended having Synth Songs playing while doing time critical work in the Finder. I hope you enjoy using SynthInit as much as I did creating it. SynthInit is a freeware program. Feel free to distribute it far and wide for non commercial use, but keep this Teach file and SynthInit together. All I ask is the you consider purchasing the commercial programs of Triad Venture so I can afford to release more FreeWare utilities like SynthInit. Loyalty is a two-way street......
