Sandra Quinn, 15 Jun
IN A very brazen theft, a woman had cash grabbed from her hands at an
ATM in Limerick city.
On June 7 at 8.10am, a woman in her early eighties was at an ATM on
O’Connell Street.
She withdrew a sum of cash and suddenly a young woman jumped in front
of her, grabbed the cash out of her hands and ran off.
The older woman was in shock, but wasn’t hurt.

Sergeant Ber Leetch of Henry Street garda station told Limerick Live:
“This type of theft has already been reported to gardaí in Limerick in
recent weeks, obviously some criminal sees this as an easy way to get
money.”
She advises people to go to an ATM in a shop or busy area and that for
anyone vulnerable - a very young, an elderly or lone female, should ask
someone they trust to stand with them.
Sergeant Leetch said: “Criminals will always look for vulnerability and
isolation, as they do not want to be caught so they do not want to be
seen.”
In this case, CCTV captured the incident and the gardaí are
investigating.
