City Centre Initiative has announced the launch of the highly
anticipated Floral Competition 2024, aimed at enhancing the aesthetic
appeal of the city centre and its surrounding areas for both residents
and visitors.
Sponsored by Altnagelvin Garden & Pet Centre, the Floral Competition
2024 offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals, neighbourhoods,
and businesses to display their creativity, horticultural skills, and
dedication to making the city an enjoyable place to live, work, and
visit.
Jim Roddy, CEO of City Centre Initiative, remarked, "The City Centre
Floral Competition is a wonderful way to bring the city centre
community together. The effort and dedication of the participants
significantly enhance the city's streetscape. Last year, we witnessed
stunning floral and garden displays from residents and businesses
fostering a true sense of community spirit as many areas and neighbours
collaborated to beautify their surroundings. I'm excited to see what
this year will bring."
City Centre Initiative invites everyone, from seasoned gardeners to
novices, to join this floral celebration. It's a chance to showcase
your creativity and contribute to the visual transformation of our
city.
Registrations and nominations are now open in the following categories:
Large Garden (e.g., hotels, churches, charities), City Centre Business
(use of pots, planters, and baskets), and Residential Gardens. Each
category will have gold, silver, and bronze winners, who will receive

The deadline for entries is Friday, 26th July 2024, with judging taking
place week commencing 29th July 2024. The prize-giving ceremony will be
