A number of Derry people have been named in the King's Birthday Honours
List.
The King's Birthday Honours List celebrates the public service of
individuals across the UK.
Former Derry councillor and Ulster Unionist Party stalwart Mary
Hamilton has been awarded the MBE for services to local government, to
education and to cross-community reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
Deputy Mayor of Derry and Strabane District Council, Alderman Darren
Guy said: "Congratulations to our dear friend and colleague Mary
Hamilton on being awarded the MBE in HM King Charles III birthday
honours list.
"Well deserved for all Mary's hard work and dedication to our City and
District, and the continued search for justice for those who lost their
lives in the Claudy atrocity."
A number of people were awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal). Those
included are:
Irene Hewitt; for voluntary services in Derry
Marguerite Hull; for services to the St Vincent De Paul Society and to
the community in Eglinton, County Derry
Irene Hunter; for services to the Royal British Legion in County Derry
Kenneth Mannin; for services to the community in County Derry
Hilary Richardson; for services to Girlguiding and to the community in
Tobermore, County Derry
