I Want To Wear A Dress!

So, I am a very 'cis' male, perfectly happy in my body, without any alphabet leanings (not that there's anything wrong with that, as Seinfeld said). I am sick of _everything_ being sexualized (or genderized). My male toddlers were always referred to as 'she' because of long hair or maybe a doll-in-hand. One of my kids had to literally escape a mob of children in the playground at 3, a mob screaming "Get her, she has a penis"! My female dog is always called 'he' because she's big - and well, she lifts her leg and pees on everything, so maybe she is gender-queer, but anyway.

My neighbor came to our morning-coffee-ritual wearing a simple yet fantastic Comme De Garcon dress. He wore it well. I was extremely envious.

It's hot, and my boys really need cooling. My pants are rubbing me in the wrong places when I walk, and I walk many miles every day. It would make so much sense to wear a skirt or a dress.

Really, it would make a lot more sense for men to wear dresses and women, pants. Look at the engineering aspects: if you have a heat-sink dangling down there, you are a fool for covering it with layers and layers of fabric.

Now, I don't want to make any statements by wearing a dress. I don't want to identify as anything. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, or compete with my trans daughter. It has zero to do with my gender identity or sexuality. I don't want to challenge or defend anything, just to cool off my crotch! I am in NYC, so theoretically, anything goes. But somehow I doubt it. Given my propensity for getting into unpleasant verbal exchanges, I am kind of afraid to wear a dress. Call me chicken.

I already have pink hair - a consequence of a father-daughter moment, which probably won't help. It started out red but went purple and now pink. Some people like it, most people seem to not care. It's not a statement, except maybe that I am bored of gray and don't have an office job. It's just hair. If I see a dress or a skirt I like, I may go for it before the summer is out, if I don't chicken out.
