I caught these moments of a raven in the Fred Meyers parking lot, checking out a coffee container, and then taking flight. This is a common enough sight in Fairbanks, but it was the first time I came across one while having my S5300 camera at hand.
The camera's "Sports Mode" is helpful for this, as it starts capturing frames as soon as the shoot button is partially depressed, every half second or something like that. So, you can capture multiple moments of time without having to do a video recording.
