Welcome to my little corner of the Tildeverse.
I am on a journey down the rabbithole of the 'smol' Internet in search of a simplicity and sense of community in a world I once knew. A world where one would dial into a BBS or a shared Unix system, where one could enter the 'who' command and see they aren't alone. Where we would chat on IRC with close strangers scattered across the globe, who share common interests over civil chatter. Where ideas and information is shared in newsgroups and simple hand-made websites.
A comfortable place at a comfortable pace without the distractions of sound clips, automatically rolling advertisement animations and videos, pop-ups, pop-overs, constant prompts for cookies, location awareness, or notifications.
Subcultures have always fascinated me. From the places hidden in plain site in Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere" to the perhaps more well-known wizarding world of Harry Potter. I'm excited to find such a place in the Tildeverse, and look forward to exploring the breadth and depth of this new world.
Here, I'll be sharing what I learn and the places I find.
