On Getting a Cat.

I'm a cat person. While slightly higher maintenance  than a turtle, they offer a lot more activity and interest.  I've had a number of cats and all have been from the local shelters.  I started searching about a year ago, I wanted a Himalayan with the pointed nose, a dark face to highlight the blue eyes.

Three day a week searches for almost a year came up empty.  We were on a breeders list for a kitten (which is super expensive, but at some level you can get the exact cat you want. )  As time went on I lowered my expectations to a mid to long hair, with blue eyes. Except for solid black fur, for some reason black cats make me uncomfortable, I think they are always up to something.

Found a solid color cat, blue eyes, and mid length fur at a shelter.  It's a kitten so it's cute.  It's too young to be spayed waiting time is 6 more weeks.  Cat breeder next litter isn't until mid-August, with home to us time 14 weeks later.  So kitten it is.

Saturday comes and on one of the sites is a new listing for exactly the cat I want.  Calls to the shelter, fairly long drive, a great cuddle session, some paperwork and back to home.   Now waiting for the cat to become acclimated to the house.   Know it's here someplace, it found the food and the litter box, so that part is good.

I guess the message is to keep trying.  This cat is 3 years old, so may have been a tougher sell to others and I'm sure the kitten will get scooped up by a family since it's super cute.
