Not many people falsely claim to be expert carpenters because their false claim will be quickly revealed to themselves and others if they are not.
Many people, on the other hand, are claiming to be experts in Agile. Many of them have not spent one tenth of the time most people spend on becoming expert carpenters. The reason is simple: We're distancing ourselves from objective measures. Some people's resistance to defining what they mean by Agile is a clear indication of this issue.
Sometimes, the only difference in being Agile is the type of consultants you hire to help your company.
Sometimes, being an expert in Agile only means that the person has been exposed "long enough" —i.e., months— to Agile terminology.
