Wordle now seems to hide stats: after I solved today's puzzle, it prompted me to log in. And so I guess I'm done with Wordle? Or at least, the NYT version. There's a Geminispace version, but it's not quite as good - part of the appeal of original was that it minimized "bullshit words", words that are definitely English, but very rarely used.
Hiding stats is a nothing thing, but it really bothered me when I saw it. The internet has gone from a place where we do interesting things and meet interesting people, to a place in which our every interaction, every page load, is packaged, monetized, and sold.
Sorry, but I'm done. I'm out. I'm glad Josh Wardle made his bag, but I'm sad to see something that was a bit of daily joy during the pandemic, and after, get turned into a bullet point in a portfolio by a media company.
