i think this started 27th Aug 2022
my device is Galaxy Watch 46mm R800
Galaxy Wear / Wearable / Watch Plugin (i can check for you), when i tried to run it, popped up a screen that it requires update of 75MB
the alternative to downloading was to close the app
the update button redirected to Google Play Store, which wasn't showing an update
the app is a Plugin, so it can't be opened, so there is not the usual pair of either Uninstall / Open or Uninstall / Update buttons, but either the latter or just the "Uninstall", in the Store app.
Samsung has its own store Galaxy Store, and probably that's where the update went correctly, but that store is only for Samsung phones
there were thousands of 1-star reviews on several of the apps that are needed to use the watch with the phone
people were mentioning that Samsung phones got the update, and some were saying that it's Polish customers being screwed
judging by the lack of coverage, it may have been possible that it was not a global issue but just East Europe or something
there were older Reddit threads describing similar things having once happened with other models of Samsung wearables, with analogical plugin apps. The people there were recommending to wipe app data and cache.
What i did was restricting internet access to the app (miui allows that), then trying first with wiping just cache, then with wiping app data (the plugin doesn't have much of it, there was just one megabyte). i think restricting internet access was necessary, i think i tried without it too but not sure.
i am staying with restricting internet access for the plugin app, despite there having, on 1st or 2nd of September, appeared an update, dated supposedly, iirc, 29th of August.
i am not sure if the plugin app itself has any functionality depending on internet access, i think sometihng else handles everything that i stumbled upon so far. maybe there are some app downloads over this app or whatever? but i think i already been downloading some apps/updates since then to the watch.
and yea in the reviews people were describing that the watch doesn't want to reconnect with the phone, i was lucky that for me it was still connecting (until i started wiping things, of course). i just could do no management and no manual connect from the app. some people were describing an even further loss of functionality of the watch, maybe due to actions taken in confusion, or maybe by just having a bad coincidence.
first reviews mentioning the fault were appearing on 27th August, i think
