"Filed" my first DMCA takedown notice, recording it here so I have the date to see if it makes a difference
I assume by now that youtube has introduced you to toroidal propellers.
They seemed a pretty cool innovation, but having just watched a video talking them up I may have misjudged how big this is. I think there are ways of expressing efficiency improvements that exaggerate their benefit, but first interesting point is propeller hasn't really changed in 4000 years, and second interesting point is that propellers are everywhere in all sorts of different roles and this improvement works on all of them. ships/boats, aeroplanes, drones, windmills, fans, computer fans.
Not as significant a change as AI, but a low level improvement in the technology stack
I did it, I finally got around to switching phones
My first godotengine "contribution" was just merged. it's a tiny simple bugfix, much like my "contribution" to the mono project was, but means I get to say my code is in both of those projects :D
Unicode needs a fake flex emoji
[Hmmm, I really should fully switch over to the new phone from the previous entry, I see it's been 2 months now, and it has a much better camera]
New phone day. Installed CalyxOS on it, and it's not bricked! Wooo!
I haven't switched sims over yet, but current phone is getting a bit long in the tooth and coming apart - the screen is seperating from the chassis.
Tickling observation: Art is no longer in the eye of the beholder.
It's 2022 and beholders can't tell whether something was made by a human or an AI, so now the artist's intention or message or soul is super important to it being _real_ art.
😄
Art and beholders is so 2021
Noticed a product feature list containing the bullet-point:
You get me.
Today I make Y2.1K bug!
The code assumes a datestamped resource will begin with "20", so it'll break in ~80 years (2100). We'll see if it makes it past code review.
Let the record show that if Cody's Lab ever delves into the story of bees in Biosphere 2, I put that on his radar.
Tried out a trailcam. This photo was taken next to the house while we slept.
It also caught a rabbit and later a fox. I'm unsure whether that iconic duo was coincidence. Next time I'll enable video.
My mosquito trap seems to be working, it's like sourdough Sea-Monkeys!
lol, a phishing email pretending to be from linked-in just fell flat because linked-in's real emails are so often attempts at trickery that I was expecting funny business.
I've stopping work on Minetest to focus on my own game. Valheim showed me that the pillars of Minecraft's gameplay can work without blocks, so I'm learning Godot and while Godot 4 bakes I'll work on the procedural world generation.
I just learned that Engineers have an "Engineer's Ring" worn on the little finger, at least in the US. To me it sounds like a guild signet, and I'm sad there's no Codemonkeys Ring.
Benchy should be succeeded by a "Printer's Ring" IMO 😁

😁 😮
Woah. We just had an earthquake, and my Quake-Catcher Network sensor has recorded it's first actual earthquake... after 13 years.
(Mag ~6, nothing broken, but earthquakes don't normally happen here)
QCN's viewer is broken, so I viewered it myself. The largest earthquake recorded [on land] here... as seen from our garden:

Inspiration 4 didn't seem like something I should care about, but after the launch I saw a reddit post of "Was Inspiration4 the best SpaceX Webcast Ever?", and the naysayer comments were like "nah, I think the Falcon Heavy launch was better", so given how epic Falcon Heavy was it made me think "OK, perhaps I should indulge this".
So I started watching the Netflix documentary, and it hooks you - I'm now fully invested in the Inspiration 4 crew members, and thus worried about mishaps, but the reason for this glog entry is:

Waking up one morning I realized "you know what's wrong with video games... they're just not dorky enough".
So I fixed that.

No wonder it's aged badly.
Knight Rider is closer in time to WW2 than it is to today

Google's image search is carefully OCR'ing images. I searched for "14262757497872989606" (someone's Minetest game seed) and there are zero webpage hits, it returns only screenshot images of the game running when debug-info is enabled and displaying the seed. The pages hosting these screenshots do not contain the seed. I shouldn't find this in any way surprising, they probably throw more image recognition AI at images each year, but it was an interesting search result.
I think a big draw for Gemini feeds would be having IRL friends on here - currently it's interesting strangers.
Perhaps interesting strangers will keep it nice, or I can coerce friends into it, but it feels like I'll probably just miss out on a little of the social magic.
Working on a new video for a new Minetest mod. Swore I'd keep away from Minetest! Telling myself this "Deep Nether" mod is really about testing and helping make sure all the work on the Nether mod can be easily built upon by others and doesn't need to bit-rot away to obsolescence if I stay away ;)
