Chapter 1: So it begins

Like many tales of adventure, this one begins in the modest confines of a little tavern nestled within the quaint town of Idarington. As Ingol Robinson goes to request another round from the barkeep, he overhears the conversation of two weary guardsmen. Their discussion is over the disturbance brewing at the distant abbey situated on the far side of the Verdant Vale.

"They were supposed to be back a few days ago, but there's been no sign of them."

"It's not just them, you know. Another group of monks left the abbey to try and find them and now they are missing too."

"Something isn't right. But I'm sure neither legion wants to get involved with issues at their borders."

With a flourish, Ingol slides two mugs of ale their way and leans in. "Sounds like these monks could use some help!"

The Party

Ingol Robinson, the third son of a humble peasant farmer, forsook the life expected of him and embarked on a quest for a brighter future. Yet, he was an unremarkable man, devoid of towering strength or extraordinary intellect...just an ordinary soul who found solace in the art of combat. Without the guidance of formal training, he relies on his innate instincts and determination as he stumbles his way through life. Although his heart brims with charity, always eager to lend a hand, his Achilles heel lies in his deep seated fear, often entangling him in challenges far beyond his grasp.

As the son of a respected stronghold guard, he was raised in the steadfast traditions of honesty, unwavering integrity, and a resolute dedication to truth and justice. Known as the indomitable champion in battles, Nuznock has developed a penchant for indulgence. Particularly in the spoils of victory which leads him to revel in the joys of a hearty meal and generous tankards of mead. It was precisely the allure of the latter that drew Nuznock to the tavern on that fateful night when he and Ingol fortuitously found themselves shoulder to shoulder, facing down a raucous and intoxicated brawl.
