There are at least 3 types of people
One would treat the new way of doing stuff as bad, because they tried using the old way and it didn't work.
One would treat it as bad, not because it's bad, but because it's worse than the best.
One would treat it as good and bad, and would wonder why people don't see the good as they do after they've go out of their way to try it out.
The first type of people usually happens because they prefer consistency, which while is fair (to themselves), is usually unfair (to the thing itself).
The second type of people is there because they prefer getting stuff done. Sometimes they may even overlap with the third type in terms of the way they think, it's just that they rather spend time with the best, and it's not up to them to discover what's actually possible, because others can do that.
The third type are usually curious, and they rather spend time to discover possibilities than to do what everyone else is doing, even if it may seem like it's a waste of time at least 90% of the time.
This is a very unscientific speculation on the way people look at new things, specifically inspired by discussions around Anthropic's Claude 2.
