Jashin-chan Dropkick! X Episode 3

2022-7-23

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW

This episode started off a little slow with the Jashin meeting going on a little longer than it should've, but it ended diff-

erently with Yurine finding her way into Jashin's head, skewering 3 of them with a sword, and then blowing a hole in Origin's head with a special party streamer! I get the whole

video call thing, but that's been overplayed in all recent forms of media and is a sign of the times that most people would rather forget.

Most of the remaining episode revolved around the recurring Jiz statue and karma that was to befall Jashin and Tachibana. Jashin started eating the mandarin that was made as an offering to the statue and then slapped him on the head a bunch of times. Even if you're not aware of how wrong this is, Yurine's facial expressions will clue you in. Later, the Jizo statue was stolen by Officer Tachibana, along with Jashin, Miku, Kyon-Kyon's sister in panda form, the ice weasel, and a gravestone. All this to combat the bad luck she had when it was plainly obvious that the bad luck was due to having that statue and gravestone in her room to begin with!

I forgot she sort of kidnapped Pekola too, using the misleading

sight of the syringe-looking pen and bags of powdery detergent

as a sign that Pekola was using drugs. It would've looked like

probable cause (do Japanese police need this?) had Tachibana not said "apartment". Pekola's boss was fine with it when run-

ning into them on the street, but in the end, he came by to

pick up Pekola for her next job. In fact, someone came to pick

up/rescue just about everyone including the gravestone and statue...except Jashin-chan! She causes so much trouble for Yurine so it's no wonder Yurine was fine with Tachibana taking

Jashin away for a little while. Lots of funny dialogue, mostly

coming from Tachibana. She called Pekola so creepy it's ador-

able. She called the ice weasel so disgusting it's adorable.

The little things they slip in like that are part of what make

this show so funny. It's obviously not even 1/10th as funny

reading about it secondhand, so if you haven't already, please

watch the first 2 seasons of Jashin-chan Dropkick and prepare

to laugh your ass off. Then start catching up on season 3! The

characters are interesting and funny, the art style is cute, the dialogue and portrayal of Jashin being brutally murdered for her misbehavior is all top-notch and part of what makes this show so unique and popular enough to get the funding for 3

seasons. Until next week!
