ACKNOR-S [CRAFT]

This is a gemlog for the SpellBinding puzzle, in which you construct words using the specified letters (each word must contain the anchor letter).

ACROSS ANANAS ANORAK ARSON CARCASS CASCARA CASK CASSOCK CORNSACK COSSACK CRASS CROSS RANSACK SACK SANK SASS SCAN SCAR SCORN SKANK SNACK SOAK SOAR SOCK SONAR SONORA SOON

Pangram: CORNSACK

Missing: SNARK

Wrong: SONORA (place), ANORAK (stupidity)

Thank you for your /msg communications to me. I appreciate the supplied missing words (which get added to the dictionary) and corrections to the current puzzle (usually not much to do but acknowlege).

I goofed in this puzzle: I added ANORAK last-minute, forgetting that S is the anchor. When rooibos pointed it out to me, I went to the dictionary to double-check, and sure enough, it's a word that works, again, forgetting the -S- requirement. Doi. Warren /msg'ed about SONORA - a place name, here in error. Just to be sure, when /msg'ing a correction, mention the reason - as you can see I can be quite stupid after looking at words all day.

ANANAS is the word for pineapple in a lot of languages (not in common use in the US, however).

CASCARA is a flowering plant native to the US Pacific coast.

CASSOCK: a Roman Catholic or Anglican clergy robe.

CORNSACK: apparently Australian for 'gunny sack'.

COSSACK... This one is weird, because in it main meaning it's capitalized. However, we have other usages: cossack hat, cossack post, so it eeks its way into the dictionary.

Another day.
