Picnic

A loved one and I went on a picnic yesterday. We made some sandwiches, packed some snacks and a couple sodas, and took it to the park. It was hot as fuck, so we found a spot in the shade.

I didn't bring my phone with me. This doesn't really seem like a big deal but it's huge for me. I decided I was sick of being distracted, and I wanted to be in the moment, so I left my phone at home. I enjoyed the experience. A MATHPUNK from the past might have felt antsy and bored without her phone, but I disticntly felt like the experience was improved by not having it there.

Especially with how often my friends and family report getting ads for products they've only ever mentioned out loud. I'm not exactly a conspiracy theorist. I don't claim to believe that your phone is constantly listening or constantly watching. But you can only hear about it so many times before you start to get anxious, I guess. It was nice to not have to worry about that shit.

I'd probably have more to say about yesterday's picnic, which I enjoyed very much and deeply needed, but I'm feeling pretty depressed today and don't feel like writing more. Sorry.
