I didn't know plan 9 was a thing until today

@gritty I'll bet it was a nice discovery. :)

Weirdos like me still like to do things with it for fun and learning.

What's different about this Spartan server under Plan 9 is that:

a) It's nothing but shell scripts.

b) Those shell scripts know nothing about networking (don't have to).

c) There's no chroot, but it sandboxes itself in a unique namespace.

It's kind of mind-blowing that you get all of that 'for free'.

seems sourcehut (and codeberg) are both being ddosed at the moment. who would do such a thing, it's not even a hospital?!? anyway looking forward to look at your code at some point!

@johan I know right! They're by far my favorite software forge, so I'm quite invested in this. Poor folks. :(

Very inspiring project! I have been eyeing plan9 for quite some time now, read the (very funny) manual and gave it a spin in qemu, but never really done anything with it. I am very fascinated still. As it happens I have also been wanting to move off of gh to something like sourcehut. Time management with two kids is hard though...

@johan You're very kind, thank you.

Totally hear you about time management. My daughter has just barely gotten to the phase where she has her own schedule, so daddy has time to hack again!

I certainly hope others come to realize there's a lot they can learn still in Plan 9 and that hosting smolweb services on it isn't such a crazy idea. It's also easier to get working than with other operating systems I won't name.
