Despite not having reached the end of the month, there are few observations to document, as the weather is expected to remain wet and somewhat mild, thus keeping most of my paths muddy. Due to very mild temperatures in mid-February (averaging 17°C for approximately two days), the first flowers have begun to grow and the first butterflies have kicked off their seasons in Jena, namely Vanessa atalanta and Gonepteryx rhamni. Due to the weather remaining wet, many fields surrounding my area still are covered in large puddles; some fields even resemble tiny seas, which many waterloving birds appear to appreciate.
Other than that, this month barely differs from January.
