Retrace 0x0004 -- Morgana's Log Tags: self, oct Mar 18 2024 04:08 PM (MDT) (day 333) ------------------------------------
I've made it back home, although the trip definitely wasn't the easiest thing in the world. As usual, my flight required getting up early, and since I can sleep on the plane it's usually easier to just pull an all-nighter and stay up packing rather than waking up early. Due to this, it's about 4AM when I decide I'm a bit hungry and that I ought to do some cooking right before I leave. Now, I'm not a great cook -- and I'm quite a bit sleep deprived at this point -- so I probably should've figured that this was a bad idea. I make a quick dish of pasta and red sauce, finish packing, then head out.
It's around 8AM once I arrive, and with the new security checkpoint here things go much faster so I end up at the gate with hours to spare. (of course, even with the new checkpoint I still end up getting patted down, I guess that's pretty much a constant now due to being mid-transition.) Anyways, things go alright for a half-hour or so, but I began to feel a bit sick -- surely, I figured, I couldn't have messed up and given myself food poisoning with something as simple as pasta and red sauce? Long story short, and without getting into details that I'm sure nobody wants to hear, that's exactly what happened -- I guess the lesson is don't try and make food when sleep deprived at 4AM? I did end up getting home eventually though (with the help of my family), so everything ended up mostly fine.
Anyways, despite the interesting flight, I'm so happy to be home -- it's been exactly the break I needed, with very delicious (and safe!) food and plenty of rest. Combined with some gaming (currently playing Enshrouded with the family, and a homebrew tabletop RPG with Oct), I've had a ton of fun. On Sunday I'm flying back of course, and then it's back to studying and checking off graduation requirements, but for now this has been a nice break.
