@ruby_witch and @half_elf_monk we tried vietnamese and it was awesome. also found a great mexican place (not tex-mex, which is still on the bucket list). omg the traffic. and the driving. some are too crazy to be on the road. · 1 month ago
Traffic. Awesome barbeque, if you're willing to avoid chain/franchise places. There are two kinds of "mexican" food... Tex-Mex and Mexican. Both are pretty good if you find a decent joint. Whataburger is an iconic fast food place, if you're into fast food. It's illegal to pick bluebells, apparently. If you can make the drive, remember the Alamo. · 1 month ago
I lived in Houston for almost 30 years. Expect to have to drive everywhere, and expect for the drive to take about an hour unless you're going a very short distance.
The best food is Mexican and Vietnamese, those are what you'll want to check out. If you're a traditionalist, get some smoked beef barbeque, but it's not as good as the other two options.
Things to do include going to NASA and the MFAH (art museum). A secret great free thing to go to is the Menil Gallery, no charge but you have to find parking. There are some nice parks and such nearby as well. · 1 month ago
