“But then i realised”

But then i realised
what was about to happen
and i grabbed her and
we started running
as hard as we could
not daring
to let exhaustion imperil us

But then we were
thrown to the ground
by the blast wave
that spoke of
the deaths of dozens.

We survived;
Many didn't, ‘liberated’.
