Your archetypal Shōjo / Josei, this anime follows Sei's astonishing convocation from her unremarkable single life as an industrious, twenty-something office worker in Japan into a fantasy world.
It starts out all wrong when the archmage's ceremony results in two young women to appear — to everybody's surprise Sei arrives together with another Japanese girl, Aira. All eyes focus on Aira first, who has immediately caught the eye of the crown prince who sees her as “the Saint”, the one who's supposed to save his world from the encroaching attack of scary monsters. Sei is more or less ignored. She gets representative rooms in the palace, but not much to do else. Bored, she finds her way into a nearby research institute which specialises in healing potions. She volunteers herself, finding herself a place in this alien world. She actually seems quite happy about this, having exchanged her unfulfilling life as an office worker for the adventures of research.
The all-male cast of her new collaborators happily welcomes her and introduces her to the science and art of potion making. Just that, right off the bat, her potions are more potent than anybody else's, and she seemingly doesn't tire producing them...
Soon follows the next step — Sei's potions save the life of Albert, the gorgeous looking, sweet, noble, and ultra-chivalrous captain of the Third Order of the Knights of the Kingdom of Salutania. Beyond gratitude, Albert is obviously intrigued by his saviour — and she by him. Sei is old enough to understand her feelings and generally responds positive to Albert's cautious courtship, but initially doesn't have the guts to follow through.
And Sei's powers keep growing... saying more would risk spoiling the story.
“The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent” is more charming than last week's “The combatants will be deployed”. Sei is also decidedly a more relatable character than the crude Agent No 6. However, below the surface they are also more similarities than this first impressions may let us to believe. In both cases a hero ends in an isekai world. In both cases the hero will change that world for the better. In both cases the hero allows us watchers to project ourselves into a world with lots of attractive puppets from the other gender to pick from. And in both cases the show reveals quite a lot what the directors expect their target group to get all dreamy about.
