Music players with support for classic winamp skins

Winamp was one of the most popular music players for personal computers. It's 2.x versions is targeted by many for it's system of skins that it nativly supported. With so much effort put into different customization by many different people it's no wonder that other players decided that it's a worthwhlle effort to support this skin system. I want to catalogue different music players that do this, and perhaps leave notes about them.

FOSS

Audacios

Fork Beep Music Player, which is forl of XMMS, audacious supports winamp classic skins, although not perfectly (for example, it doesn't use buffering indicator left of play/pause/stop icon). There is no support for skinning additional windows, such as visualizer of song info, which are displayed using either Qt or GTK wigets, depending on which toolkit is set.

It supports skin.hints file which allows you to rearrange UI elements of skin, which isn't possible in winamp 2.x.

QMMP

Qt based player. I can't test it because debian testing is going through time_t transition on 32 bit architechtures.

Proprietary

Winamp 5

After version 3, skipping 4, winamp returned support for classic skins in verion 5. If you are not alergic to non-free software be warned that latest version of (desktop, because for some reason winamp current owners thought that they could be spotify clone,) winamp added support for NFTs. Make of that what you will.

WACUP

Attempt to recreate winamp with all of it's fearutes by former developers of winamp. Still in beta.

Additions

This list is really probably incomplete. If you want to add to this list please e-mail me and note how you want to be credited.
