Mostly a medical rant tbh

Last night I woke up and - everything was fine?

I didn't feel any pain. My feet were fine, my jaw was silent, there was no sound.

I think it used to be like that. I think it was always like that until two months ago.

The wisdom teeth BS should be the novelty here, not it's absence.

It's like my standards of "always dealing with background pain" never updated from 5 years ago with the year-long foot infection.

I mean, there was no clear before/after. The surgeon fucked up and it took years to stabilize. I still see the scar, but I never noticed until yesterday that I don't feel it anymore.

---

...and those two nurses tried to hide it. I saw your quick sideye, you knew it was not normal.

Oh, that's why you wanted to remove the sutures so early. Well that was painful. I would rather have been told "we fucked up, it's infected, and we want to remove foreign objects from the mess" than just being pushed to accept arbitrary treatment and told everything was fine.

See, the problem with lying to a patient who's had the same infection for the last 10 months due to medical stupidness...

Is that it's fucking stupid, and only offloads the work to the next honest nurse.

I am fairly sure that they were worried about sanctions from regulatory organisms and went for the "if I pretend it isn't real maybe it won't be".

I like box drawing

If you wonder how this got resolved, after 11 months of being prescribed the same antibiotic on cooldown, I went out of my 15y/o shyness to ask for another one as it was *clearly* not working. The shit vanished next week.

So yeah, nothing really bad here. Just everyday dishonesty and incompetency.

A month later, an optician tried to sell me glasses even though I had 20/20 on all tests. Saying it's to avoid "developing slight eye-strain when watching screens during more than 3 hours in the future". I've been watching screens for about 8 hours, every day, and am currently in the future. That eye-strain is reaaally slight. The price wasn't "slight in a distant future under some conditions" though.

Another month later, I took a routine wisdom teeth radio. One dentist said it was fine, one scamm- orthodontist said I should get them removed asap, the surgeon said he wasn't sure but I might have problems in my 30s.

That orthodontist was awesome. I just did not follow his directions, and he did not notice. Still took my parent's money though, and the thing got fixed exactly as he expected.

Anyways, they said contradictory things, and I *really* did not trust anyone for medical advice anymore. Especially forecasting for 15 years later. So I just forgot about it. I think I'm the only one I know who hasn't removed them.

Now it's 5 years later. I recently went to the dentist that said it was fine, and she found that one out of 4 wisdom teeth was in fact not fine. Fuck. All of them hurt, I just hope that mayyybe it'll fix itself.

It doesn't hurt enough to be worth removing for now.

If it does fix itself, I am fully prepared to pretend he said "in 5 years" and not "in 15 years".

So, I was saying, I think I never updated my standards about pain since that time, and it was kind of surreal to just move around like in a dream. It didn't last long, maybe 10mn, but I was actually a bit worried that I had something wrong preventing me from feeling my body. Felt incredibly light.
