13-04-2022 🎹 MAO reboot part 1

MAO is french acronym for computer assisted music.

When I was 14 I had my own home studio with AtariST, Roland D20, Technics Organ, TR808, and other MIDI stuff.

I made some compositions ala Vangelis, Art of noise, Tangerine Dream and Eric Sera (The Big Blue).

I spent a lot of time on my piano, improvising romantic music for hours.

The nostalgic made me to try to build a simple MAO setup on my archlinux with a AKAI MPK mini MIDI controller.

I won't do things like the great amazing Marc Rebillet or Mezerg but I want to feel some good music vibrations.

Marc Rebillet - How to funk in two minutes

Mezerg - Riders of the storm

Bonus 🎁

Domi & JD Beck - Nord Live Sessions

So I started to download `dexed` a DX7 emulator, and it works natively with the MPK. I still have to find out how to program the MPK buttons.

I also installed `ardour` that seems to be a professional audio studio opensource, like Gimp is for image.

Need to consume some times on tutorials before having fun...

Some resources that help me:

linuxmao - a french web portal for MAO a ton of good informations

Dexed - the DX7 emulator in OpenSource

Ardour - the gimp for audio
