Spouse passed the fit test. He puked after the run, but he did it. It's so great to be past that hurdle. He'll have to pass the fit test again right before training, so he can't relax, but it's good to have one in the win column. He needed it. He's had a sniffle since he got back and I think he's coming down with something (he says allergies), but shit, now is as good a time to get sick as we've had in months and months.

My chair got delivered today. I was not expecting it to arrive so soon. It's a very nice pumpkin orange and I love having that slab of bright color in my space. The cheap rug on the floor has one of those fake aged designs with orange sprinkled in and that + chair really makes the corner seem lively. Like, I'm telling you, orange is criminally underappreciated. It's my favorite love/hate "it's hideous, I must have it" color. Whatever it is, it isn't boring. Which is why, when given the opportunity, I will always pick the orange thing. Cushioning and all the adjustments seem good. I'm not sure if paying the extra money for the tilt was worth it, but I guess time will tell. All chairs feel good at first, that's easy.

So we saw Snake Eyes and yeah, it's a bit dim, but it was still way smarter than Tomorrow War, so I give it a C-. But I found something amazing to watch in every scene and it was the costuming. It's like they rounded up some top notch nerdy costumers, shot them up with a stimulant, shouted "NINJAS! SNAKES!" at them through a bullhorn (kind of like how zoolander got brainwashed to kill the prime minister of Malaysia), and then released them into some world class fabric store like rabid wolverines. They absolutely killed it. Like a dozen super cool jackets, cool pants, insanely beautiful textiles, just absolute creative joy in every outfit. I want all those kimonos. Blah blah ninjas, blah blah gi joe, I was too busy admiring the costuming because it was stealing the show. I don't even care what ninja trial thing is going on, check out that guy's kimono - did they fucking print on dupioni silk??? I am sure the main actor guy is talented, but he was a bit of a playdoh lump in a killer motorcycle jacket in this. Seems like he was cast for two specific looks: frustrated scruffy slackjaw and astounded scruffy slackjaw. Because in every scene he makes one of those looks at least once, with the weird slow gasp and googly eyes and three day stubble. I do not buy him as an ultra stealth ninja. I buy him as an american hamfist bro. Hamfist bros do not catburgle. On the optimistic side I thought maybe it would strive for a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon vibe, with the dazzling martial arts battles, but it felt more like watching someone launch themselves through a gradeschool playground and pretend it was an american ninja warrior tryout. None of the fight scenes had visceral impact for me.

Anyway, the costuming is really really nice and there's also a beautiful japanese folding screen with a flock of crows/ravens on it that gets some decent screen time. I could spend a solid 20 minutes looking at just the folding screen artwork. I mean that right there makes it better than Tomorrow War.

I want to be nice to Snake Eyes and give it a C with costuming extra credit, but the end sunk to basic cartoon series assembly line schlock and that dragged it down for me. So it's a C-. But dang, I wonder if they got the costuming team from 47 Ronin because I spent most of that movie admiring the costuming in that one too.

Cat has chewed off one of the xwing wing tips. I am going to murder him.
