Galway Film Fleadh to honour Brian Cox for outstanding achievement

The Galway Film Fleadh is set to welcome star of stage and screen Brian

Cox for a highly anticipated public interview as part of the 36th edition

of the festival.

During the festival, Cox will be honoured with the Galway Hooker Award for

Outstanding Achievement, the festival’s highest award.

Cox, most recently known for his role in HBO’s Succession, has established

himself as a versatile performer, garnering critical acclaim and

prestigious awards.

His accolades include a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama

Series and a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited

Series for his remarkable portrayal of Hermann Goering in Nuremberg.

His extensive film credits include Troy, Zodiac, Braveheart, Manhunter,

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Bourne Trilogy and much more.

A veteran of the London stage, Cox has won two Olivier Awards for Best

Actor  for his performances in Titus Andronicus for the Royal Shakespeare

Company and Rat in the Skull for the Royal Court.

Currently gracing the London stage in the West End production of Long

Day’s Journey Into Night, Cox continues to captivate audiences with his

talent and dedication to the craft.

Galway Film Fleadh is delighted to be partnering with the Irish Film &

Television Academy (IFTA) for this event, who are at the forefront of

showcasing and rewarding excellence in achievement across screen

performance and production for the past 21 years in Ireland.

Speaking about the event, CEO Miriam Allen said that they are honoured to

welcome Brian Cox to the Galway Film Fleadh.

“His remarkable talent and contributions to both stage and screen have

left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment,” she said.

“We are thrilled to present him with the Galway Hooker Award for

Outstanding Achievement to recognise his extraordinary career.”

The public interview led by RTÉ Arena presenter, Seán Rocks will take

place on Sunday, 14th of July at 3pm at the Galmont Hotel and tickets are

€15.
