I really don't remember when I first heard of Gemini. I'm pretty sure it was on Lobsters, more or less a year ago. It struck me as something interesting; an effort to go back, in spirit if not in implementation, to the WWW of the late 90's.
I think this is the Lobsters entry in which I first knew of Gemini
Small sites, run by enthusiasts, where writing was as important as reading, and 'liking' meant a rational effort to bookmark and constantly visit your favorite websites, since all this was before RSS. Or, as low-key said a couple of days ago in "Gemini: a platform for listening":
When liking something is no longer reduced to the press of a button, it's you who must actually do the liking now. This demands effort and honesty from you, asking you to really engage with the content lest you like without even realising what it is you are liking. This also lets you pack into your liking the kind of nuance that no button could ever capture.

Re: Gemini, a platform for listening
It was their post (and the corresponding reply by Keith Aprilnight) that made me create a capsule at last instead of just firing up Lagrange once a day.
So here I am. Let's see if this project gains more momentum than my blog.
