Ciaran Mather, 25 May
A County Kildare man was placed on a peace bond for breaking into his
ex-girlfriend’s home, in order to get his clothes back
The man appeared via video-link at Naas District Court on Thursday, May
23 last, as he is currently remanded in custody for an alleged rape
offence.
Gardaà told Judge Desmond Zaidan that on a date in 2023 in Kildare, the
man climbed through the window of his ex-partner’s home, and was
spotted by her.
It was also alleged that he damaged a door in her home.
The court was told that the man has no previous convictions.
Defending solicitor Cairbre Finan told Judge Zaidan that his client’s
offence 'was on the lower end of burglary', and that he just wished to
retrieve clothing that belonged to him from her home.
He suggested to Judge Zaidan to backdate whatever sentence he would
give him.
After consideration, the judge said that he would place the man on a
peace bond for 12 months, which became effective immediately.
