Pumping out completions, like an epic gamer!
Deltarune is a game by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale. Originally only chapter 1 was released for free, with the rest of the game being planned to release at full price once it's developed. However, Dog himself decided to grace us with another free chapter, saying that's because "the world has been really tough for everybody recently".
"the world has been really tough for everybody recently"
Yes! I was only 14 when Undertale first came out, so it has a special place in my heart, despite me "growing out of it". Luckily, Toby also realizes that players have grown up since 2014, and that Deltarune has to bring something new. In contrast to the previous game, Deltarune pushes the idea that "your choices do not matter", which gives a very subtle dark vibe throughout the game. Yet the writing is still "quirky", and the plot is still fun. It all forms a good mix. Undertale, in comparison, doesn't feel like a good mix: it's either too sugary if you choose the Pacifist route, or it's too edgy if you do the Genocide route. Restricting Deltarune to just one ending is a good call: that way Toby can really take the time to make it work.
Deltarune chapters 1 & 2 were very high quality and the endings were very intriguing, I can't wait to see the full game! *9/10*
There is no official Linux version for Deltarune, so I played the Windows version using Wine. *I encountered a graphical glitch which may or may not cause seizures.* The bug is now documented on WineHQ's App Database. Sadly, I don't know if there is a workaround, but apparently other Linux users played the game just fine.
