[2024-02-04T01:54:25Z] <phoebos> sewn: send it again
[2024-02-04T05:01:39Z] <sewn> arggg
[2024-02-04T05:02:35Z] <sewn> phoebos: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=2djlxCWcNOM
[2024-02-04T05:23:03Z] <sewn> hi midfavila
[2024-02-04T15:54:58Z] <wannabekissuser> Hi there, it's me again. Huge thanks to sewn, I had a great success installing nvidia and running X. But of course I still have questions. I want to run steam and I figured that the easiest way to do this would be installing it via flatpak, had to allow user namespaces in kernel. But oh wow lol it just launched nevermind
[2024-02-04T15:55:00Z] <wannabekissuser> lol
[2024-02-04T15:55:34Z] <wannabekissuser> I rechecked and magically it launched after refusing to do so
[2024-02-04T15:58:37Z] <sewn> wannabekissuser: you now take my place as the 'kiss gamer'
[2024-02-04T15:59:25Z] <wannabekissuser> Hope so, I will try to update nvidia package, for now I just downloaded the last version you dropped
[2024-02-04T16:00:13Z] <wannabekissuser> Also a question regarding nvidia, I have to manually depmod each time after reboot, is there a way to do that automatically? Like should I put this in /etc/profile maybe
[2024-02-04T16:00:48Z] <sewn> wannabekissuser: after a reboot as in a nvidia package update?
[2024-02-04T16:01:13Z] <sewn> you shoyou shouldnt need to run depmod every time
[2024-02-04T16:01:13Z] <sewn> only once
[2024-02-04T16:01:22Z] <sewn> after installation t hat is
[2024-02-04T16:01:42Z] <sewn> https://codeberg.org/kiss-community/grepo#nvidia
[2024-02-04T16:02:21Z] <wannabekissuser> Well that's weird because after I reboot I can't use startx it says that it was unable to load the kernel module and reinstalling nvidia with depmod helps :)
[2024-02-04T16:11:33Z] <wannabekissuser> oh well maybe it's connected with rebuilt kernel but still weird as I haven't changed version of a kernel
[2024-02-04T16:30:32Z] <wannabekissuser> Is there anyone using sndio?
[2024-02-04T16:30:47Z] <sewn> why would you use sndio while also using nvidia
[2024-02-04T16:30:55Z] <sewn> sndio is a no go if youre gonna use steam
[2024-02-04T16:31:01Z] <sewn> you basically have to use pipewire
[2024-02-04T16:31:29Z] <wannabekissuser> Well I can use alsa of course
[2024-02-04T16:31:39Z] <sewn> nope
[2024-02-04T16:31:40Z] <sewn> you need pulse
[2024-02-04T16:31:45Z] <wannabekissuser> I had experience of running it and steam was working fine
[2024-02-04T16:31:49Z] <wannabekissuser> Is it because of flatpak?
[2024-02-04T16:31:52Z] <sewn> no steam
[2024-02-04T16:32:18Z] <wannabekissuser> Well I used it with apulse and it was pretty fine
[2024-02-04T16:32:32Z] <sewn> yeah i did the same, still needed to use pipewire anyway
[2024-02-04T16:33:08Z] <wannabekissuser> Alright, thanks
[2024-02-04T18:03:49Z] <wannabekissuser> Seems like games on flatpak steam don't launch, not sure if the problem is with the audio, steam seems to see all my soundcards and I made alsa work, I can listen to music in firefox
[2024-02-04T18:04:17Z] <wannabekissuser> I would assume that games should be able to launch without sound
[2024-02-04T18:04:24Z] <sewn> why doesnt it launch?
[2024-02-04T18:04:37Z] <sewn> also make sure you setup pulse correctly
[2024-02-04T18:04:53Z] <wannabekissuser> Log says a lot about dbus missing and LD_PRELOAD
[2024-02-04T18:05:50Z] <wannabekissuser> I think I even had that problem before with flatpak but don't remember how I fixed it
[2024-02-04T20:41:27Z] <sewn> wannabekissuser: yeah you need dbus
[2024-02-04T20:41:36Z] <sewn> consult kiss-dbus repo on kiss community
