A NATIONWIDE campaign to mobilise voter turnout in next month’s
European elections came to Limerick.
Organised by the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Ireland,
the ‘Use Your Vote’ team are travelling to each of Ireland’s three
constituencies - South, Midlands-North West and Dublin.
Its first destination was here in Limerick, and the EPLO held a number
of events to demonstrate the impact the European Union (EU) has on the
daily lives of people - and why they should use their vote in next
month’s contest.

The acting president of the EPLO in Ireland Fionnuala Croker said the
aim is to maximise voter turnout on Friday. June 7.
“The European Parliament Liaison Office has launched a nationwide
campaign to encourage people to vote in the European elections. We were
in Limerick for our national and South constituency launch, where the
elections will have an increased significance since the first
directly-elected mayoral elections will take place in Limerick, too, on
the same day.”
As part of the day, an information stand was set up in O’Connell Street
in Limerick city centre.
On top of this, a quiz night took place in Bobby Byrne’s pub in
O’Connell Avenue, focused on European history and culture.
Here, a film featuring people in Europe who have benefitted first hand
from the European Union was premiered.
