REPRESENTATIVES of Ireland's independent electoral body were in
Limerick over two days to encourage people to get out and have their
say in the upcoming elections.
Voters across Limerick go to the polls on Friday, June 7 to elect
members of the local council, the European parliament, and for the
first time this year, an executive mayor.
The chair of the Electoral Commission Justice Marie Baker joined its
chief executive Art O'Leary in Limerick to encourage people to get out

They had a full programme of meetings across Limerick.
From meeting Traveller men and women in Ballyhoura to business leaders
at Limerick Chamber, first time voters in Laurel Hill Secondary School
and the city's migrant community, the pair met many facets of local
society.
They got many people registered in time to vote for next month's
elections.
The role of the Electoral Commission is to build awareness of Ireland’s
elections and increase the numbers of people voting.
