HUNDREDS lined the street of Monagea, Co Limerick for the annual

Monagea for CRY charity walk and cycle over the May bank holiday

weekend.

Among those who turned out was Limerick's All-Star hurler Aaron

Gillane, who signed hurleys and hats for little ones on the day.

Others who helped turn Monagea blue for the annual event included

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Patrick O'Donovan as well as

some local councillors.

The first Mongea for CRY event took place in 2012, in memory of Niamh

Herlihy (21) and Darra O’Donovan (15) who died, suddenly, within eight

months of each other, in 2011.

A decade later, it has become one of the flagship fundraisers for the

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) organisation.

More importantly, however, it has contributed hugely to raising

awareness of the risks of sudden death syndrome throughout West

Limerick.
