Meine Pi ist Tot!

date: Tue Jan 19 04:02:32 UTC 2021

Or rather... I broke the OS

And I have no idea how to fix it.

I was gleefully f'nagling with setting up my own Nextcloud instance. But then

real life got in the way, as it often does, and I left the installation halfway

done for about 24 hours.

I got back onto it about 40 minutes ago to find that I had somehow lost all of

my network devices, and then upon reboot had suddenly seen the resolution of

the screen go beyond the petty 1366x768 monitor I was using as a dev workstation

for setting up my multiple Pi's and other devices.

So... in true wholesomedonut fashion...

I nuked it!

Now to see if Ubuntu Server, Arch Arm, or some other thing is my next endeavor

for my 'hosting' RPi4. I think I might turn my 3 into a Retropie, but I'm

definitely saving one of the 4's for building a cyberdeck of some sort.

On Cyberdecks

I've been researching parts, examples and ideas for quite a while. I think I'm

going to go with a standard RPi4 and not a Compute Module, because that way I

can easily rip out the heart of the cyberdeck and either replace it, or at least

employ the Pi in other projects if need be.

It'll likely be held in a Pelican case; though I'm not beyond digging an old

briefcase or something out of a bin at the thrift shop for that extra aesthetic.

All in all I'm fairly excited to see what happens next.
