TenPin Solitaire for Palm OS — A combo of bowling and solitiare. It is not obvious at first but the goal is to "bowl" a ball by trying to combine the numbers of up to 3 pins to match one of the cards on the right. The part that isn't obvious at first is that only the second digit matters. Example: A 2 pin would match a 2 card and an 8 and 4 pin (8+4=12) selected together...

New palm device in my collection — Happy to receive a Palm Tungsten T3 today, such a cool little device which has a slide-out screen and sports bluetooth, sd card and an audio jack. Bluetooth should come in handy to set up an internet connection. Originally sold for about €400, now mine for only €8. Took some pictures of it with my Zire 71

I wish I lived in an alternate timeline where every pocket-size device had a Palm Universal Connector on the bottom. How rad would it be to be able to clip your phone, *random handheld linux device*, ebook reader, etc. into one of the Palm folding keyboards?

Palm m125 calendar sync question — On impulse recently I got a Palm m125 from eBay. I chose that model because it's one of the most recent that takes AAA batteries. I've given it a cursory fiddle, but find it quite limited for potential to use on a daily basis. One idea I had was to sync my work google calendar and/or my home icloud calendars to it, but that's non-trivial. I think the correct workflow would be: 1. Manually download calendar in ical format 2. Use a tool to convert ical to vcal...

I've been thinking of getting a PDA, but I'm not quite sure what one I want. I'm leaning towards the Palm T|X, but I've heard that the battereies are difficult to replace in them. But I also have a soft spot for the old monochrome PDA's like the Handspring Visor. Not sure which way I want to go. Part of me wants to actually use these things occasionally to step away from the always connected smartphone world so I'm also looking at them from the standpoint of practical functionality. I'm...

Email on the Palm — So, one of the things that back in the day caught my attention with Palms was the possibility to sync your email to the device, reply the emails on the go, get back to your computer, sync, and get those emails sent. So when I got my current Palm... I thought «Hey, I could try it out!» only to find there's no actual working way to do it nowadays. So I thought I could try my hand at getting something working. But guess what? I looked at my inbox. All I get is «New product...

Are there any good guides/tools/etc. for dealing with pdb files, ideally outside of the Palm itself? Like any tools for converting data to/from pdb? Between using my Palm devices and daydreaming about coding for them, I keep thinking about how I don't necessarily want data that is "trapped" on the Palm itself and I'm curious about how various pdb files can be converted to other formats and what they look like.

Hello all! So I've been moving around and started to make some progress in my discovery about getting anything done with Palm development. There's a lot of information scattered, several sources to investigate and document, and hacked together tools... but you can make it work! I hope to be able to put something here as a "one place how-to" so we can make some new software for these devices!

Any good music players for PalmOS 4? I swear everything I've tried so far as been 5 or above and I'd really like to find one that works on my SJ33. The Clie comes with one built in but it requires audio files with Sony's weird DRM of the time.

I'm looking for some resources and documentation (and tools!) on how to program for PalmOS in Linux. Is there still something alive that I can take and fiddle with? Or it is pretty much dead?

My new (to me) Tungsten T3 arrived! But the battery is shot, I really should have ordered a new battery when I ordered the T3, but I thought maaaybe it would be okay and I’d save $15. Oh well, another week until I can use it off the HotSync cradle, guess I’ll just start loading up apps! I really love the sliding case/display feature of this model.

I've got a 13 day streak going in Palmdle (wordle for Palm OS). It has become my morning routine to sync my new reading material and play Palmdle.

Got interested in Palm again after reading some stuff here on Gemini. Dug out my old Tungsten E to find the screen about 25% dead, still booted up though! I spent a large portion of my childhood writing code with OnboardC and the folding Palm keyboard while on car trips. Anyways, just ordered a Tungsten T3 (I love the sliding concept) with keyboard and case, I’m so excited. Maybe I can find my old apps I wrote? Either way, want to start daily driving it for ToDos, notes and Warfare Inc. Any...

My Palm3xe arrived almost a week ago. Separate dock I purchased arrived yesterday. USB C to Serial adapter arrived today. I had to edit some .c files and manually specify the build host, but I'm now able to back up the notes from my Palm to my PinePhonePro. :-) Now I need to find some software for note taking or some software to translate the pdb from memos... Or both. I'm pretty content right now.

Anyone have experience with dodgy touch screens on PDAs? One of the two PocketPCs I got reads touch somewhat, but seems to have a lot of dead areas. The areas that do respond at least respond in the right spots. Is this a "I can take it apart and maybe fix it" kinda situation or a "I have to replace the whole thing" kinda situation?

I have posted a gemlog entry with some thoughts on the Clie PEG-SL10 PDA that just arrived yesterday. Also in the post is my script that I have been using to sync gemini posts to the PDA for offline browsing.

I put a low-ball ~$10 bid on two unrelated iPAQs and then nobody else bid and I won them both. The first one came in today, I have to say that despite being a newer device, the Clie is definitely better, but it's not a bad little gadget either. The touch screen can be a little unreliable. The dock is nice. I'll report back when I play with it more and the other one comes in.

This might be slightly off topic, but if you could have a device to carry with you that had the exact features you want, and none of what you didn't want, what would it be?

I'm awaiting the arrival of the last PDA on my wishlist, a Sony Clie PEG-SL10. This is the last one I'm ordering I swear (maybe). The key features that landed this on my list are: "high res" monochrome display, mini USB port for hotsyncing, runs on AAA batteries.

So far the coolest Palm app I've found is a Golgo 13 themed app for practicing Graffiti. It's like a shooting range where letters pop up you have to write, but the licensing is what makes it wild.

Alright, I need some help getting my Clie up and running. I'm on Zorin (Ubuntu-based). I've got JPilot set up. The main thing I am trying to figure out how to do right now is how to sync my calendar up with the Clie. I use Proton and it only exports .ical (which I think google is the same these days). JPilot doesn't seem to want that. What are my options?

The moment I always have playing around with old tech: "hmm, I'd rather play around with my Clie, but technically my Tungsten E2 is a more powerful PDA, so maybe I should...wait...my phone is more powerful than both, the whole point is to play with the thing I like the most.""

I loved all my old PalmOS devices. I long for the days of a simple fast set of utilities to carry around. I would love to carry a device which is a combination of a dumb flip phone and a palm pilot.

PDAs, Personal Digital Assistants. I love them and use my Palm Pilot every day and even read gemini posts on it. Anyone else into PDAs?
