Issued on 2023 Dec 01 1023 UTC
A Solar Wind (SW) disturbance has been registered starting from today 08:50 UTC. This is most likely the arrival of one to three Corona Mass Ejections (CME) expected to arrive late yesterday or early today. The SW speed has reached 550 km/s, the total interplanetary magnetic field (Bt) has reached 28 nT and its North-South magnetic component (Bz) has dropped to -26 nT. Currently, NOAA Kp is 4 (active conditions) and K BEL is 3 (unsettled conditions). However considering the very low values of Bz, storm levels are expected to occur, most likely at Kp 6 (moderate storm) or Kp 7 (major storm). In any case if Bz continues to drop or the Bz remains below -20 nT for a long period of time, Kp 8 (severe storm) may be registered.

A major geomagnetic storm (Kp 7) has been registered by NOAA today for the 09:00-12:00 UTC synoptic period. Storm conditions are expected remain for the coming hours and possibly days.
