Writings

7 โ€Ž[1] **Wait for the Lord** Heb. ื“ื•ื. Wait for His salvation, as (in I Sam. 14:9): โ€œIf they say thus to us, โ€˜Wait (ื“ืžื•)!โ€™โ€ mentioned regarding Jonathan. Menachem (p. 64), however, associates it as an expression of silence, as (in Lev. 10:3): โ€œand Aaron was silent (ื•ื™ื“ื).โ€ He likewise interpreted (Lam. 3: 26): โ€œIt is good that one should wait quietly (ื•ื“ื•ืžื) in this manner, and Dunash (p. 27) concurs with him.

โ€Ž[2] **and hope** Heb. ื•ื”ืชื—ื•ืœืœ, an expression of hope (ืชื•ื—ืœืช).

โ€Ž[3] **do not compete** saying, โ€œI will be as wicked as he, and I will prosper as he does.โ€
