very true! my current two most active communities im in (well 3 but two of them forked off a bigger community so i consider them one) are for a book that is being written who i am now friends with the writers due to the years of hanging out in a small discord server, and now im writing the website for the book!
the other community was a neiche indie game called blaseball, it ended about a year ago and only ran for two, but the community has held pretty strong and i have made life long friends from it c:
