Ibn Ezra on Leviticus 26:5

Home

Torah

5 ‎[1] THRESHING SHALL REACH UNTO THE VINTAGE. Note, *when thou gatherest in thy labors out of the field* (Ex. 23:16) is now explained as meaning from the field and the vineyard.

‎[2] YE HAVE ENOUGH. *Sova* (enough) is an infinitive.

‎[3] SAFELY. *La-vetach* (safely) has the same meaning whether spelled with a *lamed* or not. The same is true of the word *levadad* (alone) (Num. 23:9). Note, Scripture mentions *sova* (enough) first, for that is most important.

‎[4] Scripture states, *and dwell in your land safely*, because people wander from their place in days of famine. Its meaning is similar to *it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be* (Gen. 4:12).
