Ibn Ezra on Leviticus 16:10

Home

Torah

10 ‎[1] SHALL BE SET ALIVE. The word *yo’omad* (shall be set) is a *hofal*. The *yod* should have been vocalized with a *shuruk*. However, it was enlarged because of the guttural. The word *yochoram* (should be forfeited) in *all his substance should be forfeited* (Ez. 10:8) is similar.

‎[2] TO MAKE ATONEMENT OVER HIM. For the atonement shall be upon it. It means to send him away.
