Torah

37 โ€Ž[1] ** ืžื•ืขื“ื™ ื”ืฉื, "the appointed seasons of the Lord, etc."** *Torat Kohanim* on verse 35 quotes Rabbi Akiva as saying that these are the days on which the performance of work is prohibited. I believe this may also be the reason why the Torah concludes by writing: ื•ืžืœื‘ื“ ืžืชื ื•ืชื™ื›ื, "and beside your gifts, etc., which you will present to the Lord." These "gifts" include burnt-offerings. We know from *Beytzah* 19 that burnt-offerings may not be offered on festivals. The Talmud derives this from the word ืœื›ื, "for you," and "not for G'd." When we take this into consideration it is clear that verse 38 speaks of the intermediate days of the festivals of Passover and Sukkot.
