Most connect to the AAUI port, or to an Ethertalk card. However, someone brought in a Color Classic 9a nice little machine, methinks) and had a Etherwave that attached to the printer port. According to the manuals, the adapter will work on any mac that dosen't have, or can't have a card installed. Supposedly ideal for powerbooks and classic macs. The operative idea is that it connects via the SERIAL port. Just like Phonenet/Localtalk. I'm going to try and borrow one, and an AAUI pod for my quadra, and see if I can get the IIgs to see the mac. Think about it, though- its a little faster that localtalk, even thru the serial port. Its easy to use the Etherwaves, because even 10base-T dosen't need a hub. It might also be a great way to get TCP/IP into a GS. If anyone has any ideas on this, please let me know. I'll keep you all informed as to the way the test goes. -Eric PS. The only drawback is that its rather expensive, around $200 for each adapter.
