I installed CalyxOS on my Pixel 3a, a few days ago, and I lost my Station certificate in the process (I forgot to save it 😅). It was ridiculously easy to install, and, for now, I'm very happy.

My only problem is that I learnt in the process that Google will stop to support the Pixel 3a in May. Calyx will follow closely. My device perfectly works, it's infuriating to see this planned obsolescence, even more so when we know that 75% of the co2 emissions of a smartphone are due to its production and transport to the first customer…

@bluecarrot The 3a is far enough powerful for my needs, and it still works. I don't see why we should always buy new things.

GrapheneOS seems great, but I need microg. · 2 years ago

p3a was quite slow due to his specs, newer pixels have 5 years of security updates also grapheneos is better in every ways. · 2 years ago

When Calyx will stop to support the 3a, I will pass to Lineage. If I understood correctly, they continue to update everything that is open source. It would reduce the number of unmaintained software, but important things for security like the firmware will be out of date. I refuse to throw a perfectly working device. · 2 years ago
