i still think that what i don't like about biden is that he is not strict enough with putin. i want russia to be weakened and us to be not that dependent of it as they wish. my impression is that trump will leave the region to putin and that's a disaster for us. practically that would mean, i can tell: aliyev starts another aggression, and takes lake sevan, and the southern part of armenia which they together with russia publicy want, and which will disconnect armenia from iran, and connect az + russia with turkey without any control of other country.

it was already a reality if not iran and visit of nancy pelosi to armenia. my friend was at the border, he was called to the military.

we lost land again. he came back alive.

currently aliyev doesn't start military because it is not a good moment. from usa they told him he won't avoid sanctions if he tries. he can try and take what they want, but he personally afraids of sanctions.

of course he presents in in other way, he says that armenian side starts aggression and he has to defend himself and that he can defend himself better by invading. that's why we asked EU to send observers and now we have EU observers at our border. that is also a factor that mitigates the threat a bit. and of course both az and ru sides were publicly very much opposed to the presence of the observers. why?

๐Ÿ™ norayr ยท Feb 23 at 18:12:

of course because observers will report who started the military actions.

armenia obviously has no interest in starting. preserving whatever remained is more than we are able to. we don't have that amount of weaponry and that trained military which they have.

so we aren't a side which is interested.

so if trump comes, it is obvious to us, by withdrawing from the region, and leaving us to putin, we'll get this aggression, sevan and meghri will go to aliyev and putin, together, our prime minister will sign the next capitulation, and weakened and humiliated till the end armenia would be forced this time to join that "common state" with russia russian side talks about so much.

๐Ÿ™ norayr ยท Feb 23 at 18:17:

the things i now refer to are in public speeches of foreign affairs representatives of the sides. not a conpiracy.

so for us "the west", whatever that means is the only possible solution. first of all armenia historycall an culturally considered itself, and was part of the west. armenian church was participating council of chalcedon, and was an important part of it.

for us, today's russia is the entitiy like a hooligan in the city district. i understand that usa looks like a hooligan in many places. but look at the map of europe. there are small states. it is very hard to survive as a small state here, since more or less, in the "west" the "law" is more respected than the right of force.

๐Ÿ™ norayr ยท Feb 23 at 18:18:

anyway.

and i am sorry to pollute the internal affairs thread with international relations and problems of the small state which is not visible on the map of the world.

@norayr, I am sorry if I offended you. As part Armenian born in Georgia during the Soviet days I appreciate your position more than an average american, and do not underestimate Russia. I wish my president would stop provoking them to get reelected, as innocent people pay for that with their lives.
