Just installed Segoe UI into Lagrange, getting wild Windows Phone flashbacks. What a pleasant font.

@m0xee, we are in business! A quick backup and reinstall worked wonders, thank you updating the fontpack and cleaning it up a bit. · 3 months ago

@eph You know what? The fontpack worked for me — at least my updated version of it. I could install it and set it as main font without any issues: gemini://m0xEE.Net/pub/lagrange_ios_station.png · 3 months ago

@m0xee, you’ll have to use TestFlight, as Lagrange isn’t yet in the App Store (unfortunately?) · 3 months ago

@eph Android makes it pretty easy, at least my "ROM" — I'm using something called Arrow OS. Settings → Apps, find the app I want to deal with, Lagrange in this case and there are two options: Clear Cache and Clear Data. I'm not sure how it's done in iOS theses days — I haven't used it in ages. I'm not even sure reinstall will do the trick anymore as it might back the settings up to "the cloud" and restore them when you reinstall the app 😅

I have an old iPad, I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Is Lagrange on App Store or do I have to use Test Flight or something like that? · 3 months ago

@m0xee, how do you clear the app data? · 3 months ago

👽 m0xee

@eph However, there is no way to set it as UI font and I don't really like it as a general purpose one.

But it works: gemini://m0xEE.Net/pub/lagrange_android.png · 3 months ago

@eph On Andoid it works. I mean it did make the app start crashing 😅 But after I cleared the app data, re-imported it from desktop Lagrange, reinstalled the font — it works without a hitch now. · 3 months ago

@m0xee, thank you! The frontpack doesn’t work on my phone (Lagrange on iOS) unfortunately, but it works just fine on macOS. · 3 months ago

@eph Thanks!

It makes Lagrange crash when I open font selector in the settings, but works fine if I use segoeui in the conig file. This made me investigate.

I tried this and that, but no dice — probably a combination of font support in SDL2, Wayland and the font itself. Your pack is fine — I have later checked on Windows and Xorg, it works!

Anyway, here is what I came up with as a result: gemini://m0xEE.Net/pub/SegoeUI.fontpack

I have taken the liberty of updating the fonts to the latest version from MS website. I have also removed the Bold Italic variant — according to docs Lagrange doesn't support it and added Light and Semibold instead. · 3 months ago

@m0xee, it’s live right now on my gemlog, but you’ll have to download it and save it as a fontpack. Smol.pub serves everything as Gemtext lol

It's about time I made an account, I've been lurking here for too long. Your post is a great incentive!

Are you planning to share the font pack? I'm a huge fan of it and the whole Windows Phone aesthetic.

My Lumia is still kicking in 2024!

I'm using it to browse Gemini (with Kineto): gemini://m0xEE.Net/pub/W10M_gemini.png

And Fedi using Bloat. With bunch of homebrew web interfaces I'm using it as a remote to control my TV, music player and mpv running on a laptop.

I'm looking for a good webmail client so, paired with hydroxide, I could access ProtonMail.

I wish hydrogen worked with old Edge — if I could use Matrix, I'd be all set! 😆 · 3 months ago

Later I’ll have to play with making a fontpack out of all the weights and italics. · 3 months ago
