Separately in CEO watch: John Riccitiello might be a PoS, but you have to look at it in context now that Unity has to shrink their workforce. You could argue he shouldn't have ever hired those folks in the first place, but a company that's growing is a company which hires.

I think it's pretty clear that their workforce was far, far too large to support an engine. A lot of the meat from Unity is gone but the bones remain. Ric.'s decisions will no doubt hurt their workforce, but that'll happen in 2025-2026. The damage now is from ceding the advertising space. · 4 months ago

Or maybe Unity has to shrink its workforce partially due to a shrink in licensing revenue after a lot of devs dropped the engine from their upcoming projects.
