I finished the season two of Star Trek: Picard. I liked it. I liked the new light shed on Picard!
Now I'll finally finish the fourth season of Discovery (the best one for now, but it's not hard 😅) and the first of Prodigy (I'm not fond of this series, it's a good show for children I think, but… it seems I'm no more a child). And I'll boldly go watch Strange New Worlds. What a time for Star Trek!
I know the French president Macron has an image, especially internationally, of someone concerned by the ecological questions.
I assure you, he is not. His new government, which was announced to represent an ecological turn, is a joke in this respect. Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the new minister of energetic transition, announced that one of the centers of her action will be to teach the small acts like the deletion of the old mails… a joke I said.
In the meanwhile, my phone, launched only 3 years ago, is not updated anymore. I could never delete any mail in my whole life, it would produce less CO2 than the construction of *one* smartphone…
There are a lot of good apps for secure messaging (Signal, Matrix, XMPP, Session, Briar, …). I love ModdedBear series on them, but it makes me wonder why 99% of people use Facebook-Meta things.
I finished the first part (on three) of a little essay which take the form of a dialogue on why I'm Christian. I need proofreaders as English is not my forte, and also to criticize my reasoning (as the dialogue is between a Christian, a leftist and a rationalist, I would be especially interested by criticism by leftists and rationalists, but any POV is welcomed).
This text is longish without being too long, it's about 3000 words long. It's a first draft, there's still a lot of work to do.
If you accept to proofread, you can answer here or send an email to adou.00@protonmail.com. I'll send you my text.
Thanks!
Thank you!
I was browsing Gopher for a few days, and I don't understand people who say that Gemini is useless as Gopher exists. Don't get me wrong, Gopher is cool in its own way, but it's quite difficult to browse it, mainly because of the lack of true hyperlinks and absence of textual adaptation to the screen. I don't think I could stay on Gopher as much as I stay on Gemini.
I think I could live my whole digital life, both personal and professional, from my computer's terminal.
The only exception is web browsing. But it's a very big exception…
What is the information I need?
Anyone knows a freely accessible TTRPG to play as GM for a 10 y.o. boy? I keep care of my nephew and I thought, too late maybe, that it could be a good idea to propose to him such a game.

There are quite a few leftists here, so I have a question for you (or for anyone who reads leftist political theory). Do you know a modern article (in English or French) who criticizes religion (not a religion or religions, but the religious phenomenon *per se*) from a materialist (dialectical or not)point of view? I think the most recent thing I read is Bukharin…
Kein Hass, aber auch kein Vergessen.
The French presidential election was despairing from the beginning of the campaign to the results. But it looks like the left parties, from the communists to the center-left socialist party finally understood that they had things in common. The way is narrow, as the spirit of the institutions is that the newly (re)elected president has to have a majority, and that the French people until now respected this spirit. But the way exists, it is possible that the future government would be left leaning, and that small possibility pitifully seems to be enough to excite me 😅.
I don't know how to interpret the fact that HaikuOS' official repositories have two different Gemini browser (Lagrange and Kristall).
I have some fun with this OS on a VM, it's at the same time familiar (I don't feel the same estrangement as when I first tried Linux) and unfamiliar.
Spartan is interesting but… US-ASCII? Does that mean that I couldn't type é, ä or ĉ?
I installed CalyxOS on my Pixel 3a, a few days ago, and I lost my Station certificate in the process (I forgot to save it 😅). It was ridiculously easy to install, and, for now, I'm very happy.
My only problem is that I learnt in the process that Google will stop to support the Pixel 3a in May. Calyx will follow closely. My device perfectly works, it's infuriating to see this planned obsolescence, even more so when we know that 75% of the co2 emissions of a smartphone are due to its production and transport to the first customer…
